We are proud supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters. We feel most fulfilled when we can be part of helping local children thrive. For more than five years, Alves has partnered with BGCBigs to build a Dream Home, the organization’s largest fundraising event. We have helped raise over $6 million dollars to enrich the lives of thousands of children in the community through after school, mentoring, and youth employment programs. We are so proud to have supported BGCBigs every single year, especially over the last five years. This organization is especially close to our hearts.

Big Brother Big Sisters Dream Home Lottery

The 2023 Dream Home is the 5th home Alves has built for the Big Brother Big Sisters Dream Home Lottery and our 'why' remains the same today as the first year. We believe that every child should have positive, safe and supportive relationships in their life.  Partnering with Liz and the BGCBigs team was a natural fit and we're proud to support the work they do to ensure all young people are provided opportunities to reach their full potential. The large number of kids they assist is a testament to the effectiveness of the organization and the need in this community. We hope this year's lottery is a glowing success that will allow BGCBigs to help even more kids and clear up those waitlists of children who are waiting up to 3 years for a Big match.

Grand Prize

The Dream Home Lottery grand prize winner will receive the $1.25 million dollar Dream Home PLUS $10,000 CASH.  The Dream Home is an exquisite 2,559 sq ft two-storey located in St. Albert. With 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, this home exudes style and warmth, empowered with European vintage interiors and stunning one of a kind finishes throughout. We’ve built this home with family entertaining in mind. The open-concept chef’s kitchen is complete with high end appliances and a statement granite used on the waterfall countertop, range hood and backsplash. In the walkout basement you will find a large, fully equipped bar, spacious living room, a games space and amazing views of the man-made ravine.

YOUCAN Comedy Nights

YOUR SUPPORT is THEIR SUCCESS

YOUCAN Youth Services is a nonprofit organization working to keep vulnerable youth out of harm's way and to add positive change to their lives. Our community and the youth that contribute so vibrantly to it are one of our top priorities, and Alves is honored to partner with YOUCAN Youth Services Comedy Nights for their exciting six-night fundraiser.

YOUCAN Youth Services Comedy Nights partners, guests, and donors have contributed to its success for over twelve years and have helped to raise over $1.5 million for the vulnerable kids in our community. Using laughter to bring healing to our lives is a wonderful way to spread awareness about the good work YOUCAN Youth Services is doing for our children, and we couldn't be more pleased to support the initiative.

KC Shamrocks

PROUD SPONSOR OF THE KC SHAMROCKS HOCKEY TEAM

Alves is a true Canadian hockey family! Having kids who played hockey in this community until their Junior Hockey careers, we believe the benefits of hockey are vital for healthy and happy youth, families, and communities. We are so proud to partner with the KC Shamrocks hockey team, part of the Northern Alberta Hockey League (NAHL). The KC Shamrocks embody the values we care about most: teamwork, tenacity, humility, integrity, inclusiveness, and so much more.

You could say that we have hockey in our blood. We understand a hockey family's hustle and bustle, which is why partnering with KC Shamrocks is a great honor for us. We are excited to encourage and support hockey communities in St. Albert and Edmonton to inspire the next generation of hockey players and fans.

Community & Awards

National Philanthropy Day - Community Enrichment Award

As part of Canada's National Philanthropy Day, Edmonton holds an annual celebration for those who have largely given back to their communities. Individuals, foundations, businesses, and nonprofit organizations are all paid tribute for their giving, volunteering, and charitable engagement. Their outstanding commitment and philanthropic achievements are what allow the services in our communities to grow and thrive.

Alves was delighted to be a recipient of the Community Enrichment Award by the Boys & Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area in 2021 and 2017. The Community Enrichment Award honors those who have engaged in impressive acts of charity. Along with the $6 million raised through Alves Development to support the Dream Home Lottery, the Alves family has also donated in-kind personally over $1 million to BGCBigs. The Dream Home Lottery was a massive success. Despite a worldwide pandemic, supply shortages, and shipping delays, Alves delivered the 2021 Dream Home a month ahead of schedule. Every year we have the opportunity to work with this amazing organization is an honor and a privilege.
